Scarves
Three scarves: a thickened wool-blend check with fringed ends, a fine plaid in a gift box, and a fine cashmere knit cut narrow enough to sit flat under a lapel. Caring for wool and cashmere.
How to wear a scarf
A narrow scarf sits flat under a coat lapel and is the right choice with tailoring. A wider wool or check scarf is warmer and can be looped once around the neck with the ends left loose, which suits a casual coat or a parka.
Keep the scarf one step quieter than the coat: a solid scarf with a patterned coat, a check with a plain one. Wool scarves last longest when they are aired between wears and washed by hand in cool water.
